I believe in investing in Hawai`i's future and diversifying our economy.  I will fight to increase federal funding for our military, education, infrastructure, and housing.

• Support trade policies applied strategically, keeping in mind total impact and possible unintended consequences such as angering important allies and injuring our own companies here at home
• Support renegotiation rather than withdrawal from trade partnerships, assuring our presence at the table
• Support the simplification of the tax code; but protect the home mortgage deduction
• Reduce taxes for those who earn below $50,000 or who are in their retirement years
• Ensure that tax benefits accrue to all in an equal manner but with emphasis on those with low or fixed retirement income  
• Eliminate loopholes for large corporations
• Ensure tax legislation doesn’t primarily benefit corporations and the wealthy
