Momentum building for Senator Donna Mercado Kim

Media Release:

April 14, 2018

Honolulu, HI – State Senator Donna Mercado Kim announced today that her campaign had raised over $225,000 in her second quarter of fundraising, with over 90% from supporters who reside in Hawai’i. Kim is running for Congress in Hawai’i’s 1st District, for the seat being vacated by Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa.

Kim, who was the leading Democratic candidate in fourth-quarter fundraising, starts this year with strong Q1 results. Today’s announcement builds on that fundraising advantage.

“Today’s announcement reflects much more than dollars raised – it is a demonstration of the widespread support and growing momentum behind my campaign. I am especially humbled and grateful that over 90% of this support comes from individuals in our island home, who are giving what they can,” said Kim, who has served Honolulu constituents first as a member of the House of Representatives, member of the City Council and now a leader in the State Senate. “Mahalo to everyone who has given financial support offered their time to volunteer and opened their homes to me over the course of this campaign. Today’s announcement shows that our message to protect our kupuna and fight for educational opportunities for our Keiki resonates with voters.”

Kim has dedicated her life to public service, first as a member of the House of Representatives, member of the Honolulu City Council and as a leader in the State Senate. She has a record of delivering for her constituents and will take her experience to DC to protect Social Security and Medicare, fight to increase federal funding and improve our public schools.
